In the beginning God created the heavens and the earth.
Genesis 1:1
I wonder if people 50 years ago looked at this verse and just kept reading. I mean, ofcourse God created the world. What else is new? They probably wondered why that verse was even in the Bible. They took it for granted.
Fast forward to today, and people look at us like we're crazy by saying this, don't they? You've heard it.
"that's old school thinking!"
"That's religion. We have science now. Keep your religion to yourself."
What was once just taken for granted is now passed off as crazy, old school thinking that has now been replaced with "real truth"
Let me assure you that this verse is just as true 50 years ago as it is still today. The world did NOT create itself. The world did NOT come from a giant explosion in space from anti-matter. God created the world!!
Why is this important? Why do people insist on a crazy theory where God did not create the world?
The answer is quite simple: If we have to admit that God created the world, that means God makes the rules, and not us. That means we don't choose what is right or wrong. God does. We are not in charge! We are not the boss! People do not want to hear that. We want to be in charge. We want to make the rules. We want to decide what is right and wrong. As a result, it feels much better to choose the theory that means WE get to make the rules.
We don't make the rules though. God makes the rules, because God created the world.
So what does that mean for us? Since God created the world, and God makes the rules, we need to study God and understand His rules so that, one day, we can stand before Him and give an account for how we lived our life
