Now the Lord God had formed out of the ground all the wild animals and all the birds in the sky. He brought them to the man to see what he would name them; and whatever the man called each living creature, that was its name. So the man gave names to all the livestock, the birds in the sky and all the wild animals.
But for Adam no suitable helper was found. So the Lord God caused the man to fall into a deep sleep; and while he was sleeping, he took one of the man’s ribs and then closed up the place with flesh. Then the Lord God made a woman from the rib he had taken out of the man, and he brought her to the man.
The man said,
“This is now bone of my bones
and flesh of my flesh;
she shall be called ‘woman,’
for she was taken out of man.”
That is why a man leaves his father and mother and is united to his wife, and they become one flesh.
Genesis 2:18-24
In the beginning, God made the world and everything in it, and it was perfect. He made all of the animals and he brought all of them to the man that He made, Adam, so he could name them. He gave Adam an incredible garden to live in. He had it all.
Even with all of that, He said: It is not good for the man to be alone.
God could see right away that we as men were in big trouble on our own. As a result, He made women.
I don't know about you, but I can pretty much say at this point that I would be completely hopeless without my wife. There are so many things that I take for granted that my wife does. You should see her go.
Somehow she manages to cook, clean, and manage 3 kids. On top of all that, she takes care of me...and i'm pretty sure I'm high maintenance.
Today, I want to set some time aside to tell my wife that I love her. She is the greatest person in the world to me, and I don't know what I would do without her. Just over 11 years ago, she decided to commit to stay with me for the rest of her life.....with no warranty included, even though she frequently says that she should have purchased an extended warranty.
I'm not even sure I knew it at the time, but I can assure you that God knew what he was doing when he brought Steph into my life. He knew even before I did that she would be the perfect person for me. I love her for committing herself to me...
...and I could not ask for more.
